What does Proverbs 12:1 mean?

When someone genuinely welcomes feedback and honest criticism, they're showing a hunger to grow and understand themselves better. That openness to correction, even when it stings, is actually a sign of wisdom and self-awareness. By contrast, the person who bristles at any hint of reproof or can't hear a word of challenge is closing themselves off from learning and getting stuck in old patterns. The point isn't that you need to accept every piece of criticism that comes your way, but rather that a willingness to listen and reflect, especially from people who know you well, is one of the clearest marks of someone moving toward wisdom.
