What does Numbers 33:5 mean?
After leaving Egypt and the plagues, the Israelites began their long journey toward the land God had promised them. Rameses was where they had lived as slaves, so this first step away from it marked a real break from their old life. Succoth, their first camp, was just a short distance away, and it represented the beginning of something new, even though the full journey ahead would be long and difficult.
