Numbers 33:13
βThey traveled from Dophkah, and encamped in Alush.β
What does Numbers 33:13 mean?
This simple verse marks one more step in Israel's long wilderness journey after leaving Egypt. The Israelites were moving through a harsh desert landscape, stopping at different sites to camp and rest along the way, and this particular leg took them from Dophkah to Alush, two locations we know very little about today. What matters most in these travel records isn't the exotic details of each place, but rather the steady faithfulness of God guiding his people, one camp at a time, toward the promised land. When you're walking through your own difficult season, there's something comforting about remembering that God's people have always moved forward one step at a time, with rest stops built in along the way.
