Numbers 33:12
“They traveled from the wilderness of Sin, and encamped in Dophkah.”
What does Numbers 33:12 mean?
During the Israelites' long journey through the desert after leaving Egypt, they made many stops along the way, and this verse simply records one of those stations: they left the wilderness of Sin and set up camp at a place called Dophkah. It's part of a longer itinerary in Numbers that tracks their path through the wilderness, much like a travel log. While we don't know much about what happened at Dophkah specifically, these verses remind us that God's people experienced their faith step by step, one camp at a time, one day at a time. Sometimes following God means taking the journey in small stages rather than seeing the whole destination at once.
