Numbers 26:8
βThe sons of Pallu: Eliab.β
What does Numbers 26:8 mean?
Pallu was one of Reuben's sons, and this verse simply records that Eliab was born to him. While genealogies might seem like lists of names to skip over, they mattered deeply to the Israelites, who used them to track family lines and inheritance rights. What makes Eliab particularly worth knowing is that he became the father of Dathan and Abiram, who led a serious rebellion against Moses and Aaron that went terribly wrong (Numbers 16). So even in this bare genealogical note, we're looking at a family whose name became connected with resistance to God's leadership, reminding us that our choices echo through our families and history.
