What does Numbers 26:7 mean?
After the Israelites wandered in the wilderness for forty years, God instructed Moses to count the people again so a new generation would be registered before entering the promised land. This verse records the final count of Reuben's descendants, one of the twelve tribes, numbering over 43,000 people. Reuben was Jacob's firstborn son, and his tribe received land east of the Jordan River. The specific numbers in this census remind us that God sees each person and family, and that even in seasons of waiting or transition, His people multiply and His promises continue through generations.
