Numbers 23:5
“Yahweh put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, “Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.””
What does Numbers 23:5 mean?
Balaam was a pagan prophet hired by Balak (a neighboring king) to curse the Israelites, but God had other plans. Instead of letting Balaam speak his own words, God literally placed words in his mouth, forcing him to bless Israel instead of cursing them. This shows God's power to override human intentions and redirect even a reluctant messenger to speak his truth. It's a reminder that God can work through unexpected people and situations to accomplish his purposes, especially when our own agendas conflict with his will.
