Numbers 16:5
“He said to Korah and to all his company, “In the morning, Yahweh will show who are his, and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to him. Even him whom he shall choose, he will cause to come near to him.”
What does Numbers 16:5 mean?
Moses is speaking to Korah, who has challenged his leadership and God's chosen priesthood. Rather than engage in a power struggle, Moses points everyone toward God as the ultimate judge, saying that tomorrow morning God himself will make clear who truly belongs to him and who is genuinely set apart for his service. This was a bold move, because it meant Moses was willing to let God settle the dispute rather than defend his own authority. The underlying message is comforting even in conflict: God knows his people, God chooses his people, and God will make that choice evident. When we're uncertain about our place or worried we don't belong, this reminds us that our standing with God isn't determined by human argument or approval, but by his knowledge and selection of us.
