Numbers 16:10
“and that he has brought you near, and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you? Do you seek the priesthood also?”
What does Numbers 16:10 mean?
Moses is speaking to Korah, a Levite who's demanding more power and authority within the community. Here, Moses is reminding Korah that being brought close to God's work—serving in the tabernacle alongside other Levites—was already a significant honor and responsibility, not something to take for granted. The question "Do you seek the priesthood also?" points out that Korah wanted what wasn't his to have: the specific priestly role reserved for Aaron's family line. This moment captures something deeply human: the tendency to look at what others have and feel like our own meaningful position isn't enough. If you're wrestling with envy or feeling overlooked, this verse gently asks whether you can recognize and appreciate the role you've actually been given, rather than fixating on a role that belongs to someone else.
