What does Numbers 15:20 mean?
When Israelites baked bread from their harvested grain, they were instructed to set aside a portion of the dough itself as an offering to God, recognizing that their provision came from him. This wasn't about giving away finished loaves, but rather the raw dough, which made the practice especially meaningful since it represented the very substance of their food before it was prepared. The "wave offering" and "heave offering" were ceremonial gestures of presentation, physically lifting or moving the gift before the priest, which turned an ordinary act of baking into an act of worship and gratitude.
