Numbers 11:19
“You will not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days,”
What does Numbers 11:19 mean?
The Lord is responding to the Israelites' complaint about being tired of manna in the wilderness. They've been grumbling that they want meat like they had in Egypt, and Moses—overwhelmed by their demands—has asked God how he's supposed to feed them. This verse is part of God's answer, and it's striking in its specificity: the people will eat meat, but not just for a day or two or even three weeks. The repetition of these growing numbers creates a sense of abundance, even excess. What God is really saying is that meat will be so plentiful for so long that they'll grow sick of it. It's almost like He's saying, "You think you want this? You're going to get more than you bargained for." Sometimes when we push hard for something we think we need, God grants it in such overwhelming measure that we learn the real lesson: our wants don't always reflect what's actually good for us.
