Nehemiah 5:19
“Remember to me, my God, for good, all that I have done for this people.”
What does Nehemiah 5:19 mean?
Nehemiah is asking God to remember his faithful service and good intentions as he rebuilt Jerusalem's walls and worked to restore the community. This prayer comes after he's made personal sacrifices, refused the governor's salary that was his right, and even used his own money to help people in need. He's not boasting or demanding reward, but simply asking God to see and acknowledge what his heart has been toward the people during this difficult season. There's something honest about this request that many of us can relate to. When we've given our best effort to something that matters, it's human to hope that goodness is noticed. Nehemiah is resting his case with God, trusting that the one who sees everything will remember what was done with integrity, even if others forget or take it for granted.
