Nehemiah 5:11
“Please restore to them, even today, their fields, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, that you are charging them.””
What does Nehemiah 5:11 mean?
Nehemiah is calling on the wealthy officials of Jerusalem to immediately cancel debts they've imposed on their own people. Because of famine and taxes, poorer Jews had borrowed heavily and were losing their land and children to slavery, while the rich grew richer off their desperation.
