What does Nehemiah 2:11 mean?

After Nehemiah arrived in Jerusalem, he took three days to simply be present before doing anything. Those three days weren't wasted time, though. They gave him space to observe the city's condition, understand what he was dealing with, and probably pray about the enormous task ahead. Sometimes the most important thing we can do when we step into a difficult situation is to pause, look around, and let reality settle in before we act. Nehemiah's restraint here suggests that wisdom often begins with listening and watching rather than immediately charging forward with solutions.
