Micah 6:5
“My people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of Yahweh.””
What does Micah 6:5 mean?
God is reminding His people of a specific moment when their ancestors faced pressure from an enemy king (Balak of Moab) who tried to curse them through a hired prophet (Balaam). Instead of the curse taking effect, God turned it into blessing, and Balaam ended up speaking God's favor over Israel instead. By calling this memory back to mind, God is essentially saying: "Look at what I've done for you in the past. Look at how I protected you when someone powerful wanted to destroy you. That's who I am, and that's what I do." It's an invitation to trust Him again in whatever present struggle the people are facing, because His character of faithfulness and protection hasn't changed.
