“Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send out laborers into his harvest.””
What does Matthew 9:38 mean?
Jesus tells us to ask God for more workers to help with the spiritual work happening in the world. He's describing people who need help and healing as a harvest ready to be gathered, and he's asking his followers to pray for more people to step up and do that work. It's an invitation to recognize that the need is real and large, and that prayer itself is one of the most important things we can do about it. When we pray this way, we're joining Jesus in asking God to stir people's hearts to serve and help others.
