Matthew 8:4
“Jesus said to him, “See that you tell nobody, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.””
What does Matthew 8:4 mean?
After healing a man with leprosy, Jesus tells him to keep quiet about the miracle and instead go directly to the priest. This wasn't about hiding what Jesus had done, but about following Jewish law. Under Moses' instructions, anyone healed of leprosy had to be examined and declared clean by a priest before returning to community life. By sending the man through this official process, Jesus showed respect for both the law and the priesthood, and gave the priests undeniable evidence of something miraculous. The man's healed body would speak louder than any rumors could.
