“Everyone who hears these words of mine, and doesn’t do them will be like a foolish man, who built his house on the sand.”
What does Matthew 7:26 mean?
Jesus is describing someone who knows what's right but doesn't act on it, comparing that person to a builder who constructs on sand instead of solid rock. When storms come (and they always do), a house without a foundation crumbles, just as a life built on good intentions alone will collapse under pressure. The point isn't that understanding God's teachings is worthless, but that real faith requires actually living them out. It's a gentle but honest reminder that hearing truth and doing truth are two very different things.
