Matthew 7:25

The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it didn’t fall, for it was founded on the rock.

What does Matthew 7:25 mean?

Jesus is wrapping up his famous Sermon on the Mount by comparing two builders: one who builds on rock and one on sand. When life's storms come, the house on rock stands firm while the one on sand crumbles. He's talking about our inner foundation, the solid ground we build our lives on through listening to his teachings and actually living them out. The "rock" isn't about having perfect circumstances or never facing difficulty, but about having something deep and true anchoring you when everything shakes. That foundation holds not because the storms don't come, but because you've built on something that doesn't wash away when they do.
