What does Matthew 7:14 mean?
Jesus is acknowledging something difficult: the path toward genuine spiritual life and wholeness isn't the easy, popular route. In his time and ours, it's far simpler to follow the crowd, chase comfort, or live by the world's values than to pursue something deeper. But he's not trying to discourage us; he's being honest about what transformation actually requires. The narrowness isn't meant to feel claustrophobic or condemning. Rather, it speaks to focus and intention. Walking with God often means making specific choices: choosing honesty over convenience, forgiveness over grudge-holding, faith over fear. It means sometimes going against the grain. Jesus says "few find it" not to make an exclusive club, but to prepare us: if you're trying to live faithfully and it sometimes feels like you're swimming upstream, that's not a sign you're doing something wrong. It's actually the mark that you're on the right path. The fact that it's harder to see or travel doesn't make it less real or valuable.
