What does Matthew 6:20 mean?
Jesus is inviting us to think differently about what's worth investing our energy and resources into. While earthly possessions naturally decay, get damaged, or disappear, the things that matter most—how we love, serve, grow spiritually, and connect with God—have a permanence nothing in this world can touch. He's not saying money or possessions are evil, but rather that pouring our whole lives into accumulating stuff leaves us anxious and ultimately empty, whereas directing our hearts toward lasting values brings real security. When life strips away everything temporary (and it often does), what we've built in our relationship with God and in how we've treated others remains.
