What does Matthew 6:15 mean?

Jesus is connecting our willingness to forgive others directly to our ability to receive God's forgiveness. When we hold onto grudges and refuse to let go of what others have done to us, we're closing a door that God wants to open in our own lives. This isn't God punishing us out of spite, but rather a spiritual reality: a heart that stays clenched in unforgiveness can't truly open to receive grace. Forgiveness isn't about pretending someone's hurt didn't matter, but about releasing the grip that bitterness has on us so we can experience the freedom and healing God offers.
