What does Matthew 5:6 mean?
When Jesus says people are blessed for hungering and thirsting after righteousness, he's describing a deep, relentless longing for what is right and good, the kind of hunger and thirst that won't let you rest. This isn't about achieving perfection or moral superiority, but about genuinely wanting to live rightly, to treat others justly, and to align yourself with God's character. The promise that they "shall be filled" means this yearning itself is not in vain, that God responds to those who earnestly seek to do what's right by satisfying that longing.
