Matthew 5:45
βthat you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.β
What does Matthew 5:45 mean?
God shows kindness to everyone, regardless of whether they deserve it or treat him well. The sun rises and rain falls on all people, believers and non-believers alike, because God's generosity isn't earned or withheld based on behavior. When we recognize this indiscriminate goodness in how the world works, we're invited to mirror that same generous spirit toward others, even those who oppose us or don't return our kindness. This is what it truly means to be God's children: not keeping score or deciding who's worthy of compassion, but extending grace the way he does.
