What does Matthew 3:15 mean?
When John the Baptist hesitated to baptize Jesus, recognizing him as the Messiah, Jesus gently insisted. He wasn't baptized because he needed forgiveness for sin, but because he wanted to stand in solidarity with humanity and model obedience to God's way. By submitting to baptism alongside everyone else, Jesus was saying yes to the full human experience and showing us what it looks like to do what's right, even when it might seem unnecessary or uncomfortable. His willingness to be identified with ordinary people, right from the start of his ministry, set the tone for a life of radical humility and connection.
