What does Matthew 26:44 mean?
Jesus returned to pray alone in Gethsemane three times during the night before his arrest, each time asking the same thing: that if possible, this suffering might pass from him. There's something deeply human and honest about this repetition. He didn't pray once, get a sense of peace, and move on. Instead, he came back again and again with the same request, the same wrestling, the same vulnerability before God. This tells us something important about how God receives our prayers. Asking repeatedly isn't a sign of weak faith or spiritual immaturity, it's what Jesus himself did when facing his darkest hour. If you find yourself praying the same prayer over and over, or returning to God with the same burden many times, you're actually following his example. Sometimes genuine faith means bringing the same ache back to God over and over until we reach a place of surrender or until he moves.
