What does Matthew 25:27 mean?
The master in Jesus' parable is speaking to the servant who buried his talent (a large sum of money) out of fear, returning only what was given without any increase. The master's rebuke points out that even the most cautious, risk-averse choice would have been to put the money somewhere it could grow, like with bankers who handle investments. This parable challenges us to think about what we do with the gifts, opportunities, and resources God entrusts to us. The point isn't that we must take wild risks or become wealthy, but rather that passivity born from fear dishonors the trust placed in us, and we're called to use what we have in ways that produce something meaningful, whether that's serving others, developing our abilities, or bearing fruit in our faith.
