What does Matthew 25:26 mean?
The master in Jesus's parable is responding to a servant who buried his talents (money) out of fear, doing nothing with what he'd been given. The master's sharp words—calling him wicked and lazy—reflect real disappointment, not because the servant lost money, but because he didn't even try. When the master says he reaps where he didn't sow, he's pointing out something the servant clearly understood: the master has high expectations and operates boldly. The servant *knew* this about his master's character, which makes his fearful inaction even more inexcusable. Jesus is ultimately teaching that God has entrusted us with gifts, opportunities, and resources meant to be used, not hidden away. Fear and caution can sometimes protect us, but they can also become excuses that keep us from stepping into the purpose we've been given.
