Matthew 24:51
βand will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. That is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.β
What does Matthew 24:51 mean?
Jesus is describing what happens to someone who claims to follow him but lives in a way that contradicts that claim, especially when that person harms or neglects others in his care. The vivid language of being "cut in pieces" reflects the severe consequences of such hypocrisy, not a literal punishment but the complete separation from God and his kingdom that such a life deserves. "Weeping and grinding of teeth" is Matthew's repeated image for deep anguish and regret, the natural result of rejecting God's way. The hardest truth here is that Jesus takes seriously the gap between what we profess to believe and how we actually treat people.
