What does Matthew 24:50 mean?
In this parable, Jesus is warning against spiritual carelessness by describing a servant who's supposed to be faithful while his master is away, but instead becomes lazy and cruel. The master's unexpected return catches him unprepared, which is the whole point: we're never told when Christ will return, so waiting faithfully matters far more than assuming we have endless time to get serious about following him. The underlying message isn't meant to terrify us but to gently shake us awake. If you knew your most important relationship would be tested today, you'd probably approach it differently, right? Jesus is saying that same urgency should shape how we treat people and live out our faith now, because the future is genuinely uncertain for all of us.
