What does Matthew 24:5 mean?

Jesus is warning his followers that false messiahs and misleading teachers will appear claiming to speak for him or represent his authority. Throughout history, people have exploited faith and spiritual hunger to gather followers around themselves rather than genuine truth, often causing real harm to those who believe them. The danger isn't always obvious false teachers, but those who sound convincing and seem to offer spiritual answers, yet pull people away from what's actually true. This warning reminds us to stay grounded, to test what we hear against Jesus's actual teachings, and to be thoughtful rather than gullible in matters of faith.
