What does Matthew 24:10 mean?

Jesus is describing what happens when faith gets tested under pressure. He's saying that when hard times come, people's commitments become fragile, and relationships fracture under the strain. Some will betray those closest to them, and fear or self-preservation will turn neighbors and even families against each other. This is a sobering reminder that our faith and love aren't automatically bulletproof. When we're scared or struggling, we can make choices we wouldn't make otherwise, and we can hurt the very people we care about most. Jesus speaks this plainly not to discourage us, but to warn us to hold our convictions and our relationships carefully, and to lean on God's strength rather than our own when pressure builds.
