Matthew 23:16

What does Matthew 23:16 mean?
Jesus is calling out the religious leaders for twisting their own rules in ways that serve money instead of God. They had created a system where oaths made by the temple building itself didn't really count, but oaths about the temple's gold did, which meant wealthy people could make binding promises tied to the precious metals while poorer people got stuck with less enforceable vows. It's a brilliant expose of how power corrupts even sacred practices, turning spiritual commitments into a wealth-based game.
