Matthew 23:10
“Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ.”
What does Matthew 23:10 mean?
Jesus is speaking directly to his followers here, warning them against seeking titles and authority over others. He's saying that when we chase after being called "master" or "teacher" or "leader," we're claiming a position that belongs to Christ alone. This doesn't mean we can't teach or lead in practical ways, but our hearts shouldn't be focused on collecting respect or power. The deeper point is that following Jesus means releasing our grip on status and recognizing that we all stand on equal ground as his students.
