What does Matthew 22:8 mean?
When the king's invited guests refuse his invitation, he declares them unworthy not because of their social status or moral perfection, but because they've rejected his generosity and hospitality. The word "worthy" here means they've shown themselves undeserving of the honor by their refusal and disrespect. Jesus uses this parable to show how those who refuse God's offer of relationship, thinking themselves too important or self-sufficient, actually disqualify themselves from receiving it.
