What does Matthew 22:3 mean?
In this parable, Jesus describes a king throwing a wedding celebration for his son, then sending servants to summon the guests who had already been invited. But the invited guests refuse to come, making excuses or simply ignoring the invitation. This rejection represents how people often turn away from God's invitation to belong to His kingdom, even when they've been given the opportunity. Jesus is teaching about the stubborn resistance He experienced from religious leaders and people who should have recognized and welcomed Him. The parable goes on to show that when some refuse the invitation, God opens it to others, suggesting that God's offer of grace is persistent and ultimately reaches those willing to accept it.
