Matthew 19:27
“Then Peter answered, “Behold, we have left everything, and followed you. What then will we have?””
What does Matthew 19:27 mean?
Peter's question captures a very human moment: after giving up his fishing business and family stability to follow Jesus, he's wondering what comes next. It's honest and raw, not pretending that sacrifice doesn't cost something real. Jesus doesn't scold him for asking. Instead, he promises that those who follow him faithfully will receive far greater rewards, both in this life through spiritual community and in eternity. The question reminds us that it's okay to acknowledge the real weight of commitment, and that God isn't blind to what we give up for him.
