What does Matthew 18:10 mean?
Jesus is warning his followers not to look down on or dismiss children, and he backs this up with something striking: he's saying that children matter so much to God that they have constant access to his presence through their angels. This isn't just about being nice to kids (though it is that), but about recognizing that the small and vulnerable have deep worth in God's eyes. When we dismiss or harm someone society considers insignificant, we're actually disrespecting someone God himself pays close attention to and protects. The image of angels standing before God on behalf of little ones emphasizes how much heaven takes the wellbeing of those who are powerless on earth seriously.
