What does Matthew 16:27 mean?

Jesus is describing his future return to earth with divine power and authority, surrounded by God's messengers. What makes this statement significant for daily living is the second part: he'll evaluate how each person has actually lived. This isn't meant to frighten believers into rigid obedience, but rather to remind us that our choices matter and have real weight. Whether we're kind or cruel, generous or selfish, attentive or indifferent to others, these patterns of living aren't invisible or insignificant in God's eyes.
