What does Matthew 15:19 mean?

Jesus is teaching that the real source of wrongdoing isn't external rules or contamination, but what's already inside us. When he lists these serious sins, he's not saying everyone does all of them, but rather showing that harm flows from the human heart when it's turned away from God and toward selfishness. This is actually good news wrapped in a hard truth: if the problem starts inside us, then that's also where genuine change can begin, through transformation rather than just trying harder to follow rules from the outside.
