What does Matthew 13:49 mean?
In this closing image of Jesus's parable about the fishing net, he describes a final separation that will happen when time ends. The angels, as God's servants, will sort people the way fishermen sort their catch, keeping what's valuable and removing what isn't. Jesus uses this familiar scene from daily life to help his listeners grasp something vast and hard to imagine. The point isn't to satisfy curiosity about exactly how judgment works, but to remind us that our choices matter because they have real consequences that extend beyond this life.
