What does Matthew 12:26 mean?
Jesus is pointing out a logical problem with the accusation that he casts out demons by Satan's power. If Satan were working against himself by removing his own demons, his entire operation would collapse from the inside. The argument exposes how senseless it would be for an enemy to undermine his own position. This response came when religious leaders were trying to discredit Jesus by claiming his miraculous healings came from evil rather than good. What Jesus highlights is that any kingdom, organization, or person torn by internal conflict will eventually fall apart. His point is both practical wisdom and a defense of his character: someone who heals is clearly not working with the forces of harm.
