What does Matthew 10:8 mean?

Jesus is telling his disciples that the spiritual gifts they've received, they should share generously with others without charge or expectation of payment. When he says "freely you received," he's reminding them that their ability to heal, help, and transform lives came as a gift from God, not something they earned or purchased. The natural response to receiving grace is to pass it along to others in the same spirit, without counting the cost or keeping score. This speaks to a countercultural way of living, especially in a world that often treats help as a transaction. Whether your gifts are literally healing abilities or simply your time, resources, and compassion, the principle holds: what you've been given freely should flow outward freely as well.
