“But when they deliver you up, don’t be anxious how or what you will say, for it will be given you in that hour what you will say.”
What does Matthew 10:19 mean?
Jesus is addressing his disciples as he sends them out into a hostile world, knowing some will face arrest or interrogation for their faith. He's promising that when fear tempts you to freeze up or scramble for the right words, you won't be abandoned to figure it out alone. The Spirit will meet you in that moment with what needs to be said. This doesn't mean you should never prepare or think carefully about your words in normal life.
