What does Matthew 10:15 mean?
Jesus is speaking to his disciples about how people will respond to their message of repentance and healing. When a town rejects the gospel and the disciples who bring it, Jesus says the judgment that city faces will be even harsher than what fell on Sodom and Gomorrah, the biblical symbols of God's most severe judgment. This is a sobering statement about accountability: those who encounter Jesus's message directly and turn away bear greater responsibility than those in ancient times who never had that opportunity. Jesus isn't being cruel here, but rather emphasizing that privilege and access to God's truth come with weight.
