What does Mark 9:19 mean?

Jesus has just arrived to find his disciples struggling to help a boy with a severe condition, while a crowd argues about whether it's even possible. His words here aren't harsh rejection but honest frustration, mixed with compassion. He's describing the gap between what people claim to believe and what they actually trust him to do. When he asks "how long shall I bear with you," he's expressing the weariness that comes from repeatedly showing up for people while they doubt. Yet immediately after, he simply says "bring him to me," showing he'll help anyway. It's a picture of God's patience with our mixed faith: he notices our hesitation, he names it, and he acts anyway. There's something deeply comforting in knowing that even our wavering trust doesn't exhaust his willingness to show up.
