Mark 9:17
“One of the multitude answered, “Teacher, I brought to you my son, who has a mute spirit;”
What does Mark 9:17 mean?
A desperate father steps forward from the crowd to address Jesus, describing his son's condition with the language of his time. The boy is unable to speak because of what was understood then as a spiritual affliction—something beyond the reach of ordinary help. This moment captures the father's last hope: he's brought his suffering child to Jesus because nothing else has worked, and he's reaching out in front of everyone to ask for help.
