They kept this saying to themselves, questioning what the “rising from the dead” meant.

What does Mark 9:10 mean?

The disciples have just witnessed Jesus's transfiguration, where he appeared in radiant glory alongside Moses and Elijah, and they've heard him speak about rising from the dead. But they're confused and unsettled, so they keep quiet about what they saw rather than spreading the news. Their confusion makes sense: they'd never encountered resurrection before in the way Jesus was describing it, and they weren't yet ready to grasp what his death and return to life would actually mean. This moment captures something real about faith—sometimes we encounter God's truth but can't fully process it yet, and that's okay. The disciples' silence and questions show us that wrestling with mystery is part of the spiritual journey.
