What does Mark 8:1 mean?

A massive crowd had gathered around Jesus, and after being with him for days, they were hungry with no food nearby. Rather than sending people away to fend for themselves, Jesus calls his disciples close and involves them in what comes next. What follows is one of Jesus's miracles, but this opening shows something important about his character: he notices people's real needs, even practical ones like hunger, and he doesn't ignore suffering that's right in front of him. It's a gentle reminder that Jesus cares about the whole person, not just spiritual concerns.
