What does Mark 7:12 mean?
Jesus is describing what happens when people prioritize their own traditions over caring for their aging parents. In this case, someone might declare their money "Corban" (a gift dedicated to God), which meant they couldn't use it to help their mom or dad, even though they were struggling. It's a sharp critique of how religious rules can actually become an excuse to abandon people we love when they need us most. The point still lands hard today: sometimes we hide behind what we claim to believe in order to avoid the inconvenient work of showing up for family. Jesus is saying that real faith never gets in the way of honoring and providing for the people who raised us.
